An excellent telecommunication network is the foundation of a good knowledge economy.  At present NZ fails considerably, largely due to the monopoly that was granted to Telecom.  The most effective way to undo this monopoly is to focus on wireless networks as sources for both fast communication and competition.  The prediction is that landlines in future will only be used for commercial networks within CBDs and the bulk of communication will be wireless.

E-Party policies in telecommunications would involve:

  • Improving the process required to set up a wireless network
  • Fast-tracking implementation of broadband solutions through govt grants or whatever is most apt
